A video showing a humpback whale washed up on the shores of Saudi Arabia has gone viral.
According to Arabic media reports, this species of whale can reach nearly 15 metres in length.
Such incidents usually take place in the Red Sea or Arabian Gulf, when whales wander into the warm waters accompanying large ships.
According to the Ministry of Environment Water and Agriculture in Saudi Arabia, the whale most likely hit a ship propeller and couldn't find a way back out from the Red Sea due to either heat exhaustion and suffocation.
The body of the marine animal was buried 10 metres offshore in order to allow for its natural decomposition.
