Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, has received a telephone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, during which they discussed the Kataeb Hezbollah's strikes on Coalition Forces in Kirkuk , as well as the US' defencive strikes in Iraq and Syria.
"The Secretary and the Crown Prince agreed that the Iranian regime and its proxies continue to be a destabilising force in the region and that nations have a right to defend themselves in the face of these threats," the US State Department said in a statement.
Pompeo underscored that attacks by the Iranian regime, or their proxies of any identity, that harm Americans, our allies, or our interests will be answered with a decisive response, as demonstrated on Monday, the statement said.
Pompeo also thanked the Crown Prince for Saudi Arabia's support and engagement across many regional challenges, and the two agreed agreed to continue to work together to counter Iran's malign behaviour.
