The midday work ban has become effective in Saudi Arabia from Friday (June 15). The Ministry of Labour and Social Development made this announcement. No person should be allowed to work under direct sunlight from 12pm to 3pm during the three months till September 15,  pointed out Khaled Abal Khail, spokesman of the ministry.
It has to be ensured by the employers that their employees do not work under the sun for three hours during the period, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting the spokesman as saying.
Abal Khail said the ministry has sent a reminder to all government and private sectors to abide by its decision which was issued as law by the Cabinet, preventing work under direct sun rays from June 15 to September 15 every year.
Abal Khail added that some areas, where the temperature is tolerable, could not be subject to an exemption to the ban. "The ministry is coordinating with the governorates of those regions with regard to taking a decision whether to ban work under the sun or not," he said as reported by the Saudi Gazette.
