107,000 apply for 140 jobs in Gulf country

The authorities were overwhelmed to receive 107,000 job applications from Saudi women in just one week.

In an overwhelming response, the Saudi General Directorate of Passports has received 107,000 job applications from Saudi women in just one week. This has certainly taken the Saudi authorities by surprise, considering the enormous number of applications received against the 140 available positions put up on the directorate's website.
The job offers include positions available in the Kingdom's air, land, and sea ports, targeting women Saudi nationals holding a high school degree or equivalent. According to the directorate, there has been surge in the number of people visiting the directorate's official website and over 600,000 individuals were reported to have clicked on the website recently.
Al Arabiya quoted Saudi newspaper Sabq as saying that Saudi General Directorate of Passports reviewed each of the 107,000 applications received to check all job requisites are met. The directorate stated that Saudi nationals who are born and raised in the country, and are between the age group of 25 years to 35 years are eligible to apply to these jobs.
