Two bodies found of missing family in Oman flash flood

Two bodies have been recovered from a flooded wadi in Oman, four days after an Indian family of six was swept away by flash floods.

According to Oman's Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) announcement,"continuing the ongoing search for the lost family in Wadi Bani Khalid. The efforts resulted in the discovery of another body this morning after the first body was found yesterday morning."

According to the Times of Oman, Sardar Fazal Ahmed's family of six was swept away by flash floods last Saturday. His parents, Khan and Shabana, his wife Arshi, daughter Sidra, 4, son Zaid, 2, and newborn infant son Nooh, were all missing.

Search and rescue teams recovered on Tuesday a body of an adult female and officials are now awaiting blood test results to officially confirm the body. The remains are believed to be those of Sardar's mother.

His parents had flown from India to celebrate with them following the birth of the baby boy.

The Indian family was feared to be dead after their day trip took a turn for the worst. The father of the family -- Sardar Fazal Ahmed -- recounted how the tragedy unfolded. The Oman-based expat said that he managed to hold on to a palm tree branch and pull himself out of the fast-flowing waters in Wadi Bani Khalid.

Search and rescue teams of Oman's Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance combined efforts with local police officers and volunteers to comb the area continue the search for his father, wife and three children. The search began on Saturday evening.
