The United Arab Emirates has said it will continue to work with all countries and international organisations, in support of humanitarian and political efforts, aimed at ending the Syrian crisis.
This came during a speech delivered by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, while heading the country's delegation to the emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo on Tuesday.
"The tragedy witnessed in Aleppo is part of a nightmare that turned Syria into an inferno. Aleppo is another episode of the terror that has gripped Syria," he said.
He said the Syrian regime had systematically destroyed the cities and paved the way for a regional intervention by terrorist groups.
"Syria has become a playground for different forces, aided by an individual who insists on clinging to power, victimising the Syrian citizens and jeopardising the country's rich history and bright future," added Dr. Gargash.
He lamented the failure at both Arab, regional and international levels to address the Syrian issue, saying; "Yes, it is a collective disappointment and it continues in the form of a bleak picture, a lost childhood, a wasted soul, an abominable terror and an awful sectarianism."
