The Bahrain government has announced a special public holiday after the national team clinched the Arabian Gulf Cup title for the first time with a 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia in the final on Sunday.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has ordered the ministries, government departments and public establishments to remain closed on Monday, according to Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
Mohamed Al Rumaihi netted the second-half winner for Bahrain to end their 49-year wait for a maiden Gulf Cup title.

Salman Al Faraj missed the chance to give three-time champions Saudi Arabia the lead in the 12th minute but the midfielder failed to convert the penalty spot.

Bahrain were lucky in their fifth attempt to lift the trophy as they have lost four finals in the past.
