Kuwait police patrols told to stop chasing cars

Kuwait City - Violators will no longer be chased by police.

Kuwait's Interior Ministry told local police to stop chasing violating motorists as the chases often lead to horrific accidents.
According to the Filipino Times, the ministry asked all police stations in the Gulf nation to take down the number plate combination of cars which refuse to stop. "Following the recent incidents which resulted in some casualties, all police patrols are asked to stop chasing cars which refuse to stop for any reason," the ministry said in a circular.
Furthermore, the circular added that patrols are only permitted to chase violating cars in emergency situations. Patrols must also seek an approval from the Interior Ministry before they commence with the pursuit.
