An inquiry is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

Kuwaiti Amir His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah sent Thursday a cable of condolences to President of Nepal Bidhya Devi Bhandari over the death of Nepalese workers in an accident at Al Mutla housing project.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al Sabah also sent similar cables to President Bhandari.

Six expat workers died at a construction site on Thursday.

The Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) announced that rescue operations were completed at Al Mutla housing project site where workers were trapped under huge heaps of sand the day before.

While six people had died in the incident, three others had been rescued immediately from the construction site, KFSD added.

Director General of KFSD Lieut. Gen. Khaled Al-Mekrad checked the incident site, tasking personnel with investigating circumstances of the accident.

The accident happened on Wednesday, when workers were engulfed with huge heaps of sand at the construction location.

Al Mutlaa project is one of the country's key housing ventures.
