Five Ramadan charity projects worth Dh30.4 million have been announced in Sharjah.

Of these, Dh7.5 million has been allocated to help residents affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The fund will be used to pay bills, school fees and rents of the Covid-affected.

The Sharjah Charity Association said one of the projects aims to distribute 1 million Iftar meals, while another will see 25,000 food baskets distributed among needy families.

Dh8 million from the Zakat Fund will be allocated for supporting the needy, while Dh1.2 million is to be used to buy new Eid clothes for orphans.

Sharjah had earlier announced a ban on Iftar tents as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19.
