More than 4,300 families have received financial support from a charity association in Ras Al Khaimah, thanks to the Dh12.8-million donation of Dubai Islamic Bank.
Each family received about Dh1,500 to Dh5,000 in Zakat, depending on the number of members, according to Mohammed Jakkah Al Mansouri, secretary-general of Ras Al Khaimah Charity Association.
"The funds were delivered to the eligible beneficiaries through a partner exchange house or via direct bank deposits. Some families received the assistance from staff members of the association," Al Mansouri said.
All Covid-19 precautionary measures were strictly observed in the distribution of aid, he added.
"The funds were delivered in phases to ensure the smooth distribution of Zakat."
Al Mansouri thanked Dubai Islamic Bank for its annual contribution, which "eases the suffering of thousands of people throughout the year".
