The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai announced a generous Eid Al Fitr package to help Pakistani prisoners here.
The welfare initiative, in line with the instructions of the Government of Pakistan, provided Eid Package to 330 Pakistani prisoners detained in jails in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
Financial support was provided by transferring cash in the prisoners' bank accounts - for their daily essential needs.
Earlier, the Consulate General also facilitated the release of 103 prisoners by paying for their flight back home. The prisoners comprised those who either were pardoned by the Government of UAE, had completed their jail terms or simply couldn't afford going back to Pakistan.
Another batch of 49 prisoners from Ajman jail will be sent back to Pakistan shortly.
The Consulate General also announced a Ramadan package for 225 unpaid Pakistani workers living in labour camps. The employer had not paid them their salaries for the last 6 months.
The Pakistan Consulate General thanked all the philanthropists and community members who supported the initiative.
"We would also like to sincerely thank UAE authorities for their co-operation.
