Giving charity is not only life-affirming, it also guarantees salvation in the Hereafter, purifies one's heart, washes away sins, and is a barrier against God's punishment, said Saudi scholar Sheikh Saleh Al Maghamsi, Imam of the Qibaa mosque in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
Cited as one of the most important deeds a true Muslim must perform, engaging in charitable activities also provides an "express way" to paradise and protection against hellfire, the scholar added. "Giving to charity is one of the fastest ways to gain God's pleasure and His acceptance of Dua, multiply rewards, be safe in the Hereafter, and be blessed with angels' support and supplication."
Among other rewards, the scholar added that giving charity provides immunity against 70 types of misfortunes.
The eminent scholar was speaking at the lecture programme at the 'Rashid bin Mohammed Ramadan Gathering', organised under the sponsorship of Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.
