Gulf Asia Contracting Co, the construction arm of the multi-billion dollar business conglomerate RP Group, on Friday announced that it has bagged the Dh450 million Geepas residential tower project in Dubai.
The construction of the mid-rise residential tower in Al Barsha will be completed in 2018.
The contract was signed by K.P. Basheer, chairman of Western International Group, which owns the Geepas brand,  and Vinod G. Pillai, Group General Manager of RP Group, in the presence of Ajith Xavier, Senior Project Manager of Geepas, Suprabhas B., Director Projects of Chawla Architectural & Consulting Engineers and Sreekanth Ramachandran, Projects Manager of GAC.
Geepas Project is a ground plus 19-floor residential tower built on 130,000 square feet of land area.
The building consists of 1.5 million square feet of built up area that will house 640 residential units, a fully equipped gymnasium, a health club and 700 space car park.  With two levels of basement parking, a ground floor with a welcome lobby, and 19 floors of residences, the new residential building has been designed to the highest standards of aesthetics, GAC said.
With its business activities spread across the globe in construction and contracting to healthcare and education, the $4.6 billion RP Group has made a niche for itself in UAE within a short span of time.
"Riding on the success of large industrial construction contracts worth over $2 billion the group has won in the region's oil and gas sector, the Group's construction arm GAC is now foraying in to the construction of villas, commercial and industrial complexes as well as high rise buildings," said Vinod. "The awarding of this contract demonstrates the high level of trust and confidence that our partners have in our competencies to deliver exceptional buildings that are defined by quality and excellence," said Sreekanth.
He said GAC's strength in the construction business and deep heritage enable it to provide significant cost efficiencies and resource use optimisation. "This places us on a strong position in the industry to deliver value at all touch points."
Basheer said Gulf Asia's exemplary performance in Dubai's construction sector, the quality and timely completion of projects along with its strong footing in the region as an RP Group company, have had its bearing in taking the decision to award this  project to GAC.
GAC had bagged many major projects in Ajman also and is carrying out its part in Ajman's infrastructure development in a major way. GAC's international exposure proves to be quite effective in executing these projects, which include the City Towers complex, Ajman Corniche Residences, Yasmeen Towers and the Oasis Towers. Established in 2002, GAC  has also won key hospitality projects in Dubai which include a five-star luxury hotel   in Dubai Marina to be operated by Crowne Plaza.
The company has also recently completed a high-end four-star hotel in Bur Dubai, a four-star hotel apartment building in Tecom and several high-end villa projects. The organisation has a strong presence in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman.
"Gulf Asia's focus will remain on optimising resource use, maximising productivity and bringing truly world-class project development skills to the region," said Sreekanth.
