Look: Meet UAE's first New Year 2021 babies

Hospitals across the UAE erupted in festivities as they welcomed the newborns of 2021.
The first baby of the New Year was born in the UAE on the stroke of midnight.
Indian nationals Ibra Khan and Yasser Khan welcomed their little bundle of joy, a baby boy born sharp at 12 am on Friday, January 1, 2021
Yet to be named, the little one was born at Aster Hospital, Qusais in Dubai and weighed a healthy 3.5 kgs. He is the couple’s first baby and was born following a C- section. The baby’s father Yasser Khan, said, “I was very nervous while bringing my wife here for my first child. I would like to thank the Aster team for the care given to us in the labour room.”
“The entire world is looking forward to 2021 as a new beginning and I am happy that my new year night was spent helping a couple welcome a new born baby. Hope this year brings everyone as much joy and we now become a healthier happier more empathetic, kinder world,” said Dr Suchita Mehrishi, the speciality gynaecologist who delivered the new-born.
Dr Nazura Siddiqi, specialist, obstetrics and gynaecology at Bareen International Hospital delivered the baby following a C- section.
Tanweer Ahmad said, “Allah blessed us with a baby boy and multiplied our happiness by rewarding us with a blessed son as we welcome the new year. We feel immensely blessed and extremely grateful as we embrace the new addition to our family. We wish everyone a joyous and healthy new year.”
“The team is happy at the outcome as both mother and child are healthy and safe. It is so much meaningful to bring one of the first babies of the new year, 2021,” said Dr Nazura Siddiqi, specialist, obstetrics and gynaecology at Bareen International Hospital at MBZ City, Abu Dhabi.
Indian couple Fairusa Tharayil and Sunil Kuttaseri also welcomed their second baby at 4.28am Friday morning. The baby girl weighed 3.36 kg at birth and according to Dr Fathima Safa, Specialty gynaecology at Aster Hospital, Al Quisais, the baby was born after a normal delivery.
The baby is yet to be named and her father Sunil Kuttaseri said, “It was fortune to having a New year baby and for all the best support from aster hospital members thank you very much and thanks to God”.
Commenting on the occasion, CEO NMC Healthcare, Michael Davis said, “While everybody was outside counting down to the New Year, the medical teams were helping count the contractions and timing it. This is the true essence and a remarkable definition of the medical profession to whom the world remains grateful for battling the pandemic, sacrificing their own safety and family time.”
