The 105-member Indian medical team were flown to the UAE after a three-week recruitment drive and a well-coordinated operation involving government departments in Kerala.
As the UAE has stepped up screening and testing, VPS Healthcare shored up its capacity with 75 new recruitments hired after interviews over phone and video conferencing.
But with stringent lockdown measures in place, it was quite a task to bring 105 staff from different districts of Kerala together for the special flight from Kochi to Abu Dhabi.
However, the Kerala Chief Ministerís Office arranged four Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses from southernmost district of Thiruvananthapuram, central ones of Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and northern district of Kannur, which covered rest of the districts.
There were special route maps and pick up points. Once assembled, Covid-19 test was conducted by the state health department.
And found negative, on Wednesday the staff landed in Abu Dhabi.
Soon, they will serve at over dozen hospitals, field hospitals, isolation facilities and screening centres across the UAE.
