Theme parks, films and food: 7 fun things to do in UAE today

New local beats. UAE based Indian pop artist Shilpa Ananth has just released a beautifully choreographed and colorful video for Align 2.0 (ARKTKT Remix). Eastern melodies swirl around a soulful electro-pop palette hinting at the song’s underlying themes of identity and self. For her, it's about “wrestling with my many identities, trying to find balance between all the languages I speak, dream, communicate and sing in, and wondering when 'my time' to become the one I was born/meant to be will finally come.” Search for it on YouTube.
Meat Melt Mondays. It’s a foodie experience perfect for meat lovers at the start of the week for the rest of the month. Join 3Fils in Dubai for Meat Melt Monday which celebrates signature salt beef, organic grass-fed brisket, infused with 18 different spices and cured over 10 days and later cooked for over 6 hours. The menu includes a tuna Maki Roll with Meat Melt salt beef and torched ponzu mayo and fried capers, and a salt beef tempura with shitake, asparagus, Amarillo and panka sauce. For the main event, tuck into the Meat Melt Donburi with Hokkaido uni, wasabi and honey mustard sauce. On from 12pm.
UAE stories serialised. Jameel Library, part of Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai, has published its first illustrated novel by Sarnath Banerjee. 17-year Cicada features ten chapters, released every fortnight on Jameel Arts Centre’s website: jameelartscentre.org. The book is an episodic account of a young woman trapped in a vast library. Surrendering to her fate, she roams around the desolate reading rooms, walks between the shelves, takes selfies and eats from the well-stocked refrigerator. Sometimes she has imaginary conversations.
Late Turkish breakfast? Every country claims to produce the best breakfast, though Turkey certainly has one of the strongest shouts. Babaji in City Walk is serving a delicious set breakfast menu every morning including tahin and pekmez, pumpkin jam, mixed olives, a cheese platter, grilled sucuk; sigara boregi and pishi. It’s on from 11am each morning.
Fun for less at this theme park. Yas Island is home to the world’s fastest rollercoaster and you can experience it for a special price until February 20. Enter the land of speed, Ferrari World, for Dh310 and enjoy unrivaled experiences. What’s more the admission fee also includes a free visit to Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi on a different day.
New dining destination. Millennium Place Barsha Heights has launched its newest rooftop restaurant, Twenty9 offering panoramic city views and an extensive food, beverage, and shisha menu. The menu encapsulates a variety of popular dishes from all types of cuisines. From a selection of mezzeh, wagyu beef sliders and fish tacos to salads, grilled prawns and Shish tawook, there is something for everyone.
