Introduction to ballet. Children have had to deal with more upheaval than they should this year and it’s time to make up for it. Art for All, based at the theatre in the Mall of the Emirates, is putting on a ballet aimed at small children and families. This 60-minute production of the classic Coppelia is for young audiences over the age of two. It’s on November 6 and 7 at 11am and 3pm. Tickets: PlatinumList and Virgin.
Farida Khanum’s journey. The Diwali edition of Malhaar’s digital Baithak will bring Farida Khanum to your living room. Dubai-based Malhaar Centre for Performing Arts will pay tribute to the artist as a Diwali gift to its viewers. Malhaar’s Baithak will be streamed live on their Facebook and YouTube channels on Friday at 6pm. The 91-year-old ghazal artiste will share her musical journey.
Yoga outside. Get stretching at Gate Avenue at DIFC with Yoga under the Gate. There will be an unusual twist on the ancient practice as it will be a ‘sound-off, blindfolded’ class on Saturday at 4pm at Under the Gate Building to conclude the Gate Avenue Fitness Hub during Dubai Fitness Challenge 2020. Each person will be given a set of noise-cancelling headphones to tune into what the instructor is saying and tune out any interruptions in the 90-minute Vinyasa session. New sounds at Breakout DXB. Taking place this weekend, Breakout DXB is a brand-new music, culture and arts event at Rove Downtown. It’ll showcase a line-up of homegrown talent, both indoors and out in the open air, all day and throughout the night, on Friday and Saturday. Catch Abri, Layla Kardan, Lobito Brigante and more on day one and artists like Fafa and Ghaliaa on Saturday. Tickets are Dh249 with a food voucher included.

It starts with Louis Armstrong and ends with the golden age of swing with Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington, jazz vocalists Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, and the jazz star soloists Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson and Chet Baker, to name a few.
