For a country so young, and whose space programme is barely a few years old, the UAE has achieved remarkable feats and is raising the bar higher with every passing year.
It was on October 29, 2018, when KhalifaSat, the first Emirati-made satellite was launched on board a rocket from an island off the southern tip of Japan. On the second anniversary of this remarkable project, it is befitting to announce another satellite that will be made entirely by Emirati scientists and engineers, and dedicate it to the leadership of the country. The new satellite called MBZ-Sat will be used for civilian and commercial use.
Sky is the limit when ambition meets planning and execution. For a country so young, and whose space programme is barely a few years old, the UAE has achieved remarkable feats and is raising the bar higher with every passing year. The insistence on developing local talent and not relying solely on other nations is crucial for the UAE to achieve its vision set for 2071. The launch of several other projects including sending the first Emirati to space and launching the Emirates Mars Mission in July this year is helping expand the UAE’s pool of home-grown space scientists and engineers fast. The country looks determined to launch projects that will sparkle in space and improve the life of people on the earth. There’s no stopping it.
