Nigerian social media is flooded with shocked comments over a viral video claiming that a helicopter picked up a billionaire stuck in a massive traffic jam. But according to latest reports in BBC, the chopper had landed in the middle of the traffic jam to rescue a man who had suffered a stroke.
The video shows a helicopter landing on Ore road which connects the south west to the southern part of Nigeria while several motorists, who are also stuck in the jam, gather to watch. The footage from Sunday spread widely on social media, triggering speculations that a billionaire called the helicopter to escape the four-hour long traffic jam.

While another rumour spread that the chopper was called to pick up the girlfriend of a Nigerian billionaire. However, Femi Adeniji of Tropical Arctic Logistics Ltd, the company operating the helicopter, said on Wednesday that an investigation was launched and it was normal for their company to respond to emergency situations.
Clarifying that there is no such public emergency service available there, Adeniji said that they had attended to emergency calls similarly six times in the last two months.
Speaking about a billionaire being picked up from a traffic jam, Adeniji rubbished all claims and instead revealed that the chopper rescued a man who had been suffering from high blood pressure and his driver had panicked. There was also a doctor who was stuck in the traffic and had helped the man before the helicopter was called.
