Video: Boiling soup explodes in waitress's face

The waitress attempted to fish out a lighter from the soup.

A horrifying surveillance video captured the moment boiling soup explodes in a waitress's face reportedly leaving her serious injuries. 
The shocking incident occurred at China's popular hot pot chain, Haidilao, in Kunming Yunnan, when the waitress attempted to fish out a lighter that a male customer had dropped into the piping hot soup on May 15. The footage captures the waitress standing at the table where the two male customers are seated and she is seen using two ladles to retrieve the lighter, according to reports in Shanghaiist.   

Moments later the hot soup suddenly explodes, splashing all over her face, arms and chest, and also covering the two customers table. It is reported that the waitress and one of the customers were taken to hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, Haidilao did comment on the waitress's condition but said the matter is being investigated. Haidilao has over 190 outlets in China as well as in cities like Los Angeles, Singapore, Seoul, and Tokyo. Shanghaiist added that customers waiting for a table at Haidilao are offered free manicures and massages.
