An American Airlines employee has become an overnight celebrity after a passenger posted a video of him dancing on the tarmac as he directed a plane to takeoff. Jahmaul Allen, 28, who calls himself the "YYZ dancer", started dancing while directing a plane to takeoff at Toronto Pearson International Airport to soothe a crying child onboard the plane.
Although the incident occurred over the holiday season, the video became viral only recently. Allen said he had no idea that his dance moves were being recorded by a passenger on the plane. He added that his intention was to bring a smile on the face of a crying child on-board the plane as well as other passengers.

"I felt like I needed to brighten that child's life. I just made her smile ... so then I continued to dance. It was a really big impact. It made a great way to end off 2018. I just love what I do and I love making passengers happy," MSN quoted Allen as saying in ABC News. The video was posted on Twitter by a  passenger and has since been viewed over 1.7 million times.
Allen has been working for American Airlines for the past two years but he said his ultimate career goal is to become a pilot. After his instant popularity, Allen said that he felt nice when people at airport recognized him, adding that he enjoys dancing on the runway. "I usually don't really have an impact on anyone. No one really notices me. So for this to happen, for this to surface - it's actually a blessing, he said.
"I would say I do it every now and then, whenever I feel like in the mood to dance and whenever I want to make someone happy on the plane," Allen told Global News. However, he added that his dancing never interfered with his performance as a customer service agent and it was no different on the day the video was shot. The plane had a perfect path and was not interrupted at all by [his] dance moves, he added.

In a similar incident in October last year, a worker at the Rochester airport's dance moves directing the plane at the tarmac broke the internet. Kyran Ashford, who has been employed at the airport for 5 years, was captured dancing by a passenger onboard a flight. The video went viral on social media and garnered over 5 million views. Ashford was quoted saying to the KATV. "I just add a little spin to it. I call it the Kyran twist."
