Pakistan offers to help India after Rooh Afza shortage in Ramadan

The drink is a staple Iftar drink during the Holy month on both sides of the border.

Rooh Afza, a popular beverage in Pakistan as well as India, has been reportedly in short supply in the Indian market. According to reports published in Indian publication, The Print, the staple Iftar drink Rooh Afza is not available for purchase in India for over four months now. And this has prompted the beverage producer in Pakistan to offer help.
According to India's Hamdard Laboratories, which produces Rooh Afza in India, a lack of raw material is the cause of the shortfall. However, according to sources, a dispute among company owners is hampering supply.
Learning of the shortage in India, Laboratories Waqf Pakistan has offered to supply the drink through the Wagah border. "We can supply RoohAfza and RoohAfzaGO to India during this Ramdan. We can easily send trucks through Wahga border if permitted by Indian Government," tweeted Usama Qureshi, MD and CEO of Pakistani Hamdard.
According to an Express Tribune report, both Pakistan and India have common ancestry regarding Hamdard Laboratories. The original was founded by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed in old Delhi in the early 1900s, while the one in Pakistan was founded by his son Hakeem Mohammed Said, who migrated after partition, in 1948.
