A computer error caused gas prices to drop to pennies per gallon at several gas stations across Louisiana, New Mexico, California and Arizona.
The Circle K gas stations rolled down their gas prices to as low as 1-cent per gallon on Tuesday night, reported UPI. Employees at the Circle K in West Columbia said the glitch lasted for about 45 minutes to an hour on Tuesday night.
The drastic drop in gas prices saw customers queueing up to fill up their tanks until West Columbia Police were summoned to the station to stop people from taking advantage of the unintentional discount.
While another Circle K station in Albuquerque, New Mexico, flashed 2.9 cents per gallon of gas before the pumps were marked "out of order", AJC quoted KOB reports. People took to social media to spread the unbelievably low gas prices. One Twitter user wrote: 'Cheapest gas in the country at a Mobil Circle K in California. Unfortunately didn't last long'.
Circle K did not reveal how many stations were affected by the glitch but reports indicated stations in Louisiana, New Mexico, California and Arizona faced the unintentional price drop.
