A Florida man decided to go on a shopping spree with cheques printed on his home computer and managed to buy a Porsche 911 Turbo worth $140,000. He was caught while trying to buy three Rolex watches worth $61,521 with another fake cheque.
Casey William Kelley, 42, fraudulently bought a Porsche with a $139,203.05 cheque from a car dealership in Okaloosa County. The car was reported stolen after the dealership could not cash the cheque Kelley had presented.
Walton County Sheriff's Office said the man, from Wewahitchka, was caught after the jeweller in Miramar Beach decided to wait for the cheque to cash before handing over the expensive watches to him.
Kelley is being held on a $10,000 bond after he admitted he printed the banknotes on his home computer. He has been booked into the Walton County Jail on a charge of grand theft of a motor vehicle and a charge of fraud by forged bills, checks, drafts, or notes.
The arrest report stated: "Casey William Kelley didn't know what the big deal was, and that since it was his account number on the cheque he printed out, it should be fine."
