A 12-year-old boy in Australia stole his mother's credit card and booked a solo trip to Indonesia after a fight with his mother. The boy known as Drew (not his real name) had a heated argument with his mother, Emma, and decided to book four-day trip to Bali in Indonesia.
He tricked his grandmother into giving him his passport and then booked a cheap air ticket to Denpasar, Bali.
The boy is said to have done an extensive research to find an airline that allows children to travel alone without any letter from their parents.
Drew told his parents that he was going to school and instead took a train to the airport with his backpack and scooter.
The boy said no one intercepted him at Perth airport and all he needed was his passport and a student ID in order to prove he was 12 years old to fly alone.
"They just asked for my student ID and passport to prove that I'm over 12 and that I'm in secondary school," Drew was quoted as saying 9news.
The boy checked-in through the self-serve checkouts, cleared security gates, and waited to board his flight to Perth, which would then connect to Denpasar. Drew admits, "I sort of stuffed up because I got the deal cheap."
Meanwhile, his mother reported him missing after she was notified that he had not attended school. According to his mother, the boy does not like the word 'no'.
"Shocked, disgusted there is no emotion to explain how we felt when we found he had left for overseas," said Emma, a mother of two.
When he landed in Bali, Drew headed straight to his room he had booked at the All Seasons Hotel and enjoyed the luxury all by himself for long four days.
According to reports, while checking-in at the hotel, he told the staff that his sister would be joining him and that he is checking-in early.
