One parent was devastated to learn that their 22 year-old disabled son, who has cognitive ability of a seven-year-old child, was charged £3160.58 while playing online game.
The 22-year-old who also has cerebral palsy, complex epilepsy, autism and learning difficulties, has been wiped out of his entire savings, said the parent. According to a BBC report, the parent added that their son relies heavily on his iPad and PlayStation for entertainment and educational activities.
Recently, when he started playing Hidden Artifacts on his iPad, he was charged a whopping £3160.58 between 18 February and 30 May 2019. The man's parent added that although iTunes was helpful, they were unable to refund the amount.
Following a BBC report last week which revealed that how children emptied their parents' bank account buying players in the video game Fifa. Concerned over ample children falling prey to online gaming, British Labour Party leader, Tom Watson, tweeted calling for "tighter regulation" in gaming.
Watson wrote on Twitter: 'This alarming case of children racking up huge debts on FIFA highlights considerable fears that gaming is a gateway to gambling, with boys and girls hooked in at ridiculously young ages by loot boxes. The case for tighter regulation is overwhelming'.
