A 17-year-old boy's hilarious video of his father putting on 15 shirts and jumpers, weighing 8kg, to avoid paying extra fees for baggage at an airport in France has gone viral.
John Irvine, from Scotland, was flying back from Nice in France to Edinburgh airport, when he was not allowed to check in due to 8kg of excess baggage. Irvine came up with an idea to dodge paying extra baggage to EasyJet airline and did not mind piling on clothes, in around 30 degrees Celsius weather outside, to reduce the weight of his checked-in luggage.
"The lassie at the counter asked us if we wanted to pay extra but my dad just looked up at her and said 'Hen, watch this' and zipped open the suitcase and quickly flung on about 15 jumpers to help cut down the weight," Irvine's son was quoted as saying in Metro.co.uk
The teenager posted the video on Twitter describing his dad was 'sweating'. He further said, "My ribs were sore from laughing. The staff were in stitches but trying to get through the security was a struggle because they thought he was trying to smuggle something under all his clothes. Thankfully we got through eventually."
