A 16-year-old girl was saved from being raped after a colony of ants started biting her attacker in Indonesia.
The teenage girl was wooed by Toni Irawan, 29, into going for a joy ride with him around Sukamaju, South Sulawesi province.
During the drive, Irawan made sexual advances towards her, which the girl resisted. The desperate man then pulled her out and dragged her to the bushes intending to rape her.
While he was about to outrage her modesty, black ants bit him and forced him to stop.
Local media reported that during the outing, Irawan had repeatedly asked the teenager to have sex with him, but the girl declined. When they stopped by a village, she tried to flee from him, but was caught by Irawan and brought back in the car. He took her to another village on the pretext of washing his vehicle. When he found a lonely place, he dragged her to the bushes and threw her to the ground, forcing himself on her.
He was about to rape the girl when they both were bitten by a colony of black ants, reports added.
Following the melee, the teenager ran away and shouted out to the villagers for help.
The police have arrested Irawan and started a probe. If he is found guilty, the man will get a jail term between three and 15 years.
