A couple, who was all geared up to welcome their third baby girl after eight scans confirmed so, was surprised to discover it was a boy instead.
From Down County in Northern Ireland, Sarah Heaney and her husband William Govan, had already bought ample pink clothes and had also decided a name. The couple, who have two daughters - Ella, 7, and Abbie, 3, believed it was a girl following Heaney's private scan 17 weeks and an NHS gender scan at 20 weeks.
The mother also underwent growth scans every three weeks from around 25 weeks, and all of the sonographers and three different consultants said they believed it was a girl. However, Heaney was surprised when a final scan confirmed she was actually having a boy. "I just felt the blood drain from me. I couldn't talk for ages and my body felt all weird," said the mother who delivered a boy the same evening.
Heaney decided to film reactions of her husband and two girls when she broke the news to them. The video on Mirror.co.uk, shows the father shocked when he discovers its a boy while their eldest daughter Ella bashed her head in disbelief on her car seat. "When I first found out I was having a girl I was happy enough. I already had two girls, most of my friends had girls and I'd never really been around boys so I thought at least I knew what I was doing," Heaney said.
While revealing their daughter Ella wanted to baby brother, Heaney said, "The ironic thing is my eldest daughter really wanted a brother so I had to keep drumming it into her that it was a girl and that it was going to be fun. We had narrowed it down to two names, Luna and Penny."
When finally she delivered a boy, they named Max, Heaney said that she asked everyone to double check to make sure it was a boy. "It was a bit of a whirlwind at the time but he is perfect and we wouldn't change him for the world," said Heaney.
