Thunderstorms and freezing rain are expected in the UAE today and the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has advised residents to take precautions.

The weather forecast for Tuesday will be "partly cloudy to cloudy in general with a chance of rainfall over scattered areas, associated with thunder at times especially over the Northern and Eastern areas with an decrease in temperatures across the country".
The NCM has also warned about fog formation and poor visibility over internal and coastal areas.
"The NCM calls for drivers to take all precautions and follow the traffic regulations regarding the chance of fog formation and poor horizontal visibility to its lowest at times over some internal and central areas, until 8.30am on Tuesday," the Met said in a statement.
There will be a significant drop in temperature with a chance of rain as the weather gets cloudy. The highest temperature recorded over the country on Monday was 23°C in Fujairah Airport at 3:00pm.
Amid the unstable weather, the NCM issued advisories to minimise and prevent potential dangers during thunderstorms.
The NCM advised people to follow weather reports on social media to get the latest information.

The sea will be moderate becoming 'rough to very rough' by afternoon in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Oman Sea.
