Amid the cold snap that the UAE is facing, some residents have made an interesting discovery. On Thursday, residents found a body of water which has turned into an icy carpet as its surface is completely frozen.
The 'frozen pond', which was shared by Storm Centre on Instagram, shows two residents surrounding the waterbody. The pond was discovered in Jebel Jais.
In the clip, the two residents are seen breaking the ice sheets and holding it up for the viewers to see. The thin ice sheets can easily break, yet they manage to keep huge portions of it intact.

The occurrence can be attributed to the cold snap that the country is reeling under over the past few days. Temperatures as low as 2°C have been recorded on UAE's highest peak, RAK's Jebel Jais, over the week.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), unstable weather conditions will continue to affect the country until Tuesday. There is a probability of rainfall - with varying intensity over scattered areas of the country. Thunderstorms have also been predicted especially in the northern parts of UAE.
