Tropical cyclone 'Maha' intensified into a category 2 cyclone over the centre of Arabian Sea with a wind speed of 170 kmph, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said on Monday.

The NCM has earlier confirmed that Cyclone Maha will impact the UAE "with rough seas and water surge expected over the east coast during the period of high tide from Monday".
Cities like Kalba (Sharjah), Khor Fakkan (Sharjah) and Dibba (Fujairah) lie on the east coast. Rough sea condition is also predicted over the east coast.
The NCM is closely monitoring the situation and urged the public to follow up on the official NCM reports and avoid spreading rumors.
