The mountainous areas of Ras Al Khaimah saw some light showers early in the morning, while the temperature at Jebel Jais - the highest peak nationwide - dropped to 6.4 degrees Celsius at 5.45am on Saturday.
The lowest temperature record of the day, however, was snatched this time by the Raknah area in Abu Dhabi, which hit four degrees Celsius at 7am. The Mebreh mountain in Fujairah ranked second with five degrees at 3.45am on the same day.
Blowing at a speed of 55kmph, the fresh to strong northwesterly winds have made the sea "rough to very rough", according to the weather report of the National Centre of Meteorology.
"The wave height recorded was at six to 10 feet, and the weather was partly cloudy, especially northward."
Weather experts at the centre urged the public to take extra precaution, especially those who are heading out for activities, as "the winds over the sea have blown dust and sand over exposed areas".
Ahmed Hamad Al Shei, head of the emergency committee at the Department of Public Works, said they are all geared up with a team of workers, tankers and pumping machines to drain out any pool of rainwater, clean up dirt, and repair damaged roads, if any.
