Get those umbrellas and raincoats out, the UAE's rain season is expected to start from October 16. Arabs wait for the 'Wasm' season as the rains associated with it help them grow their crops.

According to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, the season signals the beginning of pleasant weather. "Al Wasm season starts on October 16 and ends on December 6. Winter comes soon after," said Al Jarwan.
During the season, the maximum expected temperature is 35°C, with the mercury dipping to as low as 10°C.
In the last few days, heavy rains and even hail have lashed parts of the country. On Monday, parts of Ajman, Sharjah and Al Ain received heavy rainfall.
