He bought a brand new blue Dh4-million Rolls Royce for the number plate. The businessman did not reveal how much he paid for the possession.

To mark the sale of the first-of-its kind number plate, the General Resources Authority of the Ras Al Khaimah Police held a small function that saw a limited number of guests at the Enoc vehicle testing and registration village.

Xu, who is a car dealer, said he was impressed with the "spectacular design". "The number code (X) is the first letter of my name. I am planning to buy two more special number plates from Ras Al Khaimah with the same 'X' code for my family.”

Enthusiasts shell out millions of dirhams for special number plates. Indian businessman Balwinder Sahni shelled out a whopping Dh33 million for Dubai number plate D5.
