According to a report in Al Bayan, the doctor filed a lawsuit, in which he claimed that a dispute that arose between him and a female patient in the hospital led to the defendant spitting at him in front of everyone. He demanded that she be ordered to pay him Dh250,000 as compensation.
The doctor said he is a reputed professional with extensive experience in the country of about 38 years, and that the incident caused him material and moral damage, which led him to file the lawsuit.
He submitted documents of a ruling issued by the Criminal Court that found the defendant guilty of physically assaulting him by spitting on him, and ordering her to pay him Dh5,000 in compensation.
Dissatisfied, he appealed. However, the defendant’s attorney demanded that the case be dismissed since the ruling for compensation was already issued.
Upon examining the case, the Abu Dhabi Civil Court ordered an extra Dh15,000 in compensation, raising the total to Dh20,000.
