Universal Hospital-Abu Dhabi has reopened following the implementation of a corrective plan issued by health authorities in the emirate and after the healthcare facility pledged compliance with rules.
The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DoH) on Sunday evening, May 5, released a statement in which it said it has reinstated the health facility following a visit from the department's audit team, which evaluated a series of stringent measures taken by the hospital to correct its violations and ensure compliance with standards and regulations of the Abu Dhabi emirate.
Khaleej Times earlier reported that the hospital had been shut down last Thursday for flouting healthcare rules.
The DoT said it had previously ordered the closure of the hospital on May 2, following a compliance audit which revealed several violations.
"DoH, alongside the hospital management, have since identified and taken all necessary corrective measures to ensure that the facility meets the necessary standards and can continue to provide the best health services to its patients," said the statement issued by DOH on Sunday evening.
"The hospital provided assurances to the department, strongly reaffirming its commitment to avoid future violations and adhere to the recommendations set by DoH's audit team."
The DoH has stressed its ongoing commitment to cooperate with healthcare facilities across the Emirate to guarantee compliance with standards and regulations in a bid to continuously improve patients' experience.
The department explained that it was keen on the health and safety of patients in health facilities across the Capital.
During the closure period, the department said it was to monitor and follow up on the status of the hospital facility to ensure that there has been an improvement in the quality of health services to be provided to patients before the facility reopens.
