The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi (HAAD), has received a circular from the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), stating that some blood pressure monitors present in health facilities are not complying with the quality standards.
The Department of Health indicated that during a routine examination of blood pressure readings, a large number of devices were leaking air from the armband, as per Al Bayan report.
HAAD called for regular checkups and calibration of blood pressure monitors.
They also advised that armbands and air hoses to be replaced when needed.
The armband should be regularly cleaned, and make sure that the liquid does not move within the band or through the hose.
All healthcare facilities are responsible for maintaining the highest standard of care.
