The Dubai Municipality denied another food-related rumour on Tuesday - regarding a cake containing 'unknown pills'
A statement issued by DM referred to a snack cake video that had gone viral on WhatsApp. The video showed a person breaking a Luppo brand cake into pieces that contained harmful 'unknown pills'.
The statement said:

'With regards to the video that is currently being spread through WhatsApp about (Luppo cake) and it containing pills from an unknown source, the Food Safety Department would like to inform you that we have surveyed the markets and have not found the product. Representatives from the company have also confirmed the absence of this product from the market and that the manufacturing company from the country of origin is also following up on this video.
The municipality would like to confirm to its kind audience that there is no evidence of the validity of these rumours. We would also like to remind the kind public that the Food Safety Department monitors and inspects all its local and imported food and on all food establishments to ensure the health and safety of foods for human consumption.

Earlier this year, people all over the world had been sharing a Luppo cake video that supposedly showed poisonous tablets hidden inside the mini cakes. The video was debunked as fake.
