Cardiac professionals came together in a bid to raise awareness of heart disease in the UAE and the significance of timely cardiac care by well-equipped hospitals and the need to choose the right hospital at the critical hour.
This transpired after Zulekha Healthcare Group noted that year-after-year the number of patients it treats with cardiac related issues continues to rise - this is reinforced by the fact that heart disease has been named as one of the biggest causes of death globally.
The event, hosted by Zulekha Healthcare Group, was held at the Conrad, Dubai, where a panel of cardiac experts took to the stage to highlight the availability of the UAE's outstanding critical cardiac care during emergencies supported by the latest technological advancements.
The event was attended by Professor Najib Moh'd Al Khaja, Secretary General; Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences; President - Centre for Arab Genomic Studies; CEO - Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation along with the management of Zulekha Healthcare Group including Dr. Zulekha Daud, Founder and Chairperson, Co-Chairperson Ms. Zanubia Shams and Managing Director Mr. Taher Shams.
The forum follows the recent launch of a new cardiac social fund made available to all communities in the UAE by both organisations, "Nabd Al Khair" (Pulse of Goodness). It was pledged to provide free treatment, healthcare and specialised operations to heart patients by accumulating up to Dh10 million co-invested social fund.
As part of the ongoing campaign, the partners continue to find ways to raise awareness of heart disease, prevention and the availability of treatments in a bid to reduce the number of cardiac related deaths in the UAE. Critical cardiovascular disease patients treated at the hospital were also provided with an opportunity to share their own personal experiences.
Initiative ambassador, Dr. Fayaz Shawl, Consultant Interventional Cardiology, Zulekha Hospital Dubai commented on the drive: "It is imperative that we continue to raise awareness of the prevalence of heart disease in order to have any hope of preventing and reducing the high number of disease associated deaths in the region. We continue to work in support of the UAE's Vision 2021 to provide world-class healthcare facilities to treat the UAE's citizens through advanced healthcare techniques and technology."
Mrs. Zanubia Shams, Co-Chairperson, Zulekha Healthcare Group added, "We have evolved over the last five decades and today take pride in being considered in treating the most complex cardiac cases being referred to us in UAE. We are a super hub for cardiac care, with specialists available 24/7, thanks to the comprehensive spectrum of expertise on board in both our facilities in Dubai and Sharjah. Our newest addition of paediatric cardiac surgeries complements our range of world class cardiovascular services."
The hospital's 'Cardiac Center of Excellence' successfully manages thousands of critical procedures each year, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), angioplasties, stenting, valve replacement (TAVR), valvoplasty, and cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries.
