The Ajman Police have confiscated 196 quad bikes last year from the emirate’s main roads and residential areas.

A top official said the police had intensified patrols on roads leading to desert areas across the emirate, targeting the violators who are endangering the lives of themselves and others by riding quad bikes on roads.

The quad bikes are strictly meant for desert areas and open spaces and riding them on streets could lead to fatal accidents, the officer said.

“Parents must be aware that children riding quad bikes on streets or residential areas pose a threat to others and endanger their own lives. There are places designated for the use of quad bikes,” he added.

He warned that even in the desert or entertainment areas, quad bikers should adhere to safe riding practices. Helmet, registration card and driving licence are must for riding quadbikes, the officer said, urging the riders to avoid going deep into the desert as it poses danger due to lack of mobile signal coverage.
