The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) — has launched a novel initiative offering mouth-watering discounts on Emirati cuisine.

The ‘Machboos Mondays’ initiative is part of the recently launched Emirati Cuisine Programme (ECP), which will give UAE residents and visitors discounts on local cuisine at a select number of hotels across Abu Dhabi.

The 10-20 per cent discount offer, which can be availed every Monday in 11 hotels in Abu Dhabi, is valid till May. Al Rawda Arjaan Hotel by Rotana, Centro Al Manhal by Rotana, Anantara Eastern Mangroves, City Seasons Al Hamra, Marriott Hotel Al Forsan, Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, and Premier Inn Abu Dhabi International Airport in Abu Dhabi, as well as Ayla Grand, Ayla Civic, Ayla Bawadi, and Hili Rayhaan by Rotana in Al Ain have been chosen as partners for the ‘Machboos Mondays’ initiative.

“Emirati food is a symbol of the UAE’s renowned generosity and hospitality and a celebration of our local culture and history,” said Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi.

“We’re delighted to be able to share this part of our rich heritage with visitors and residents through new initiatives such as ‘Machboos Mondays’, which is part of the ECP. Our ultimate goal is to make Emirati food more accessible for everyone within the UAE in order to provide them with an authentic taste of our culture,” he added.

Altogether, 32 chefs from around 30 hotels received culinary training from famous Emirati chef Khulood Atiq to prepare and serve a range of authentic local dishes such as luqaimat, machboos, balaleet and aseeda.

The ECP was launched late last year to make Emirati food more accessible and to provide a broader cultural experience to both the UAE nationals and residents.
