A Sharjah woman was surprised when she received a number of SMS for various traffic violations which she never committed. The fines for the offences were pegged at a staggering Dh95,000.

Emarat Al Youm reported that the woman, who is a GCC national, got the violations reviewed at the traffic department only to discover that her sister's husband had registered his vehicle with her name without her permission.
The woman filed a case against him to make him pay for the fines and cancel the traffic violations.
The Sharjah Criminal Court took up the matter. During the court hearing, the woman said that the man, who committed all the violations, didn't tell her that he had registered the vehicle using her personal information. She said that she had tried many times to settle the issue out-of-court. However, since the man was not forthcoming, she was forced to file a case against him in the court.
On the other hand, the man denied all the accusations, and provided a receipt to prove the woman registered the vehicle, and not him as alleged by the complainant.
The court scheduled the next hearing on April 8 to listen to testimonies of witnesses.
