UAE-based Indian driver hasn't caused a single accident in 38 years
Abu Dhabi - He was "surprised" when he was told he would be honoured at the end of his career.
ET on Saturday posted a photo on its official social media handles, showing Abdul Rahman Ponnich, 60, being honoured by Waleed Al Muhairi, executive director of the ET's transport and leasing division.
Talking to Khaleej Times, the driver said he was "surprised" when he was told he would be honoured. "I have worked under several officials, who have gone on to assume top positions across the UAE. Not a single person has complained about me.
"In my 38 years of service, I have not caused a single accident. I did get one or two traffic fines, but no one has ever complained about my driving. Still, I wasn't expecting such an honour," Abdul Rahman said.

The Kannur native, whose term ended on December 31, said he was appointed as a driver for the Ministry of Health and Prevention when he first came to the country. "About 15 years back, they moved me to Emirates Transport."
Abdul Rahman, who has four sons, said he is all set to go back home by the end of this month.
