Abu Dhabi Police issued a warning to motorists against tampering, obscuring and altering number plates as they can face referral to the Public Prosecutor or the vehicle be impounded until release fee of Dh50,000 is paid.
Announcing this in a tweet, the Abu Dhabi Police wrote: "Driving a vehicle bearing a fake or obscured number plate, or making any changes or using them in a way that is inconsistent with the legislation in force and with the knowledge of the driver".

Although the offense does not attract traffic points, the confiscated vehicles will be auctioned after a maximum of three months if it remains unclaimed.
