Drivers need to be cautious and take alternative roads as the arterial Muntazah road is to be partially and temporarily closed in Sharjah, according to official sources.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Sharjah on Thursday morning announced that the road will be closed on the direction of those heading from the emirate of Ajman to Sharjah only.
"The major road will be closed down for necessary development works for 161 days starting from Tomorrow, November 10 to Monday, April 30, 2018," informed sources said.
The authority in a bid to ensure pedestrian safety and to prevent traffic congestion has built 3km of internal paved roads, they added.
"These alternative roads start from Al Muntazah square and Al Rifaa area, passing by Al Sharq road."
A traffic light has also been installed on the Al Muntazah road to better streamline traffic flow on the road, they underlined.
"The traffic signal will help control and direct traffic flow to the alternative roads with entrances and exits for all areas."
The project is aimed to continue the planned development works and boost the performance of the roads of the emirate, they stated.
"The road shall be closed down, and traffic flow will be controlled in collaboration with the Sharjah police and Ajman police."
Drivers are all urged to use alternative roads and follow the road signs to avoid road congestions, they said.
The RTA Sharjah is more than ready to respond to customers' feedbacks and complaints. "RTA Sharjah Call Centre is reachable 24/7 at (600525252) for feedbacks, inquiries, remarks, and complaints."
