The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has fully closed one of the main entrances of the arterial King Faisal road in the emirate.
Suleiman Al Hajiri, director-general of RTA Sharjah for road affairs, on Monday told Khaleej Times that the entrance on the Al Arouba road, opposite the Central Souq and Al Soor area, will be closed for 19 days.
“The development work — mainly pavement milling, also known as cold planning asphalt milling — already started on March 13, and is scheduled to come to an end on March 31.”

During this period, at least a part of the surface of the road area will be removed, he explained. “The milling will help level and smoothen the road surface and replace the damaged asphalt with a new one.”
Al Hajiri urged road users to follow road signs and take alternative roads to avoid traffic congestions. “The entrance has been closed in collaboration with the Sharjah Police.”
The project, which is meant to enhance public safety and security, is in line with the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, he underlined.
“The road development, being done as per the highest international standards, will give a boost to the performance of the road and the entire road network of the emirate.”
