A motorist, who stunt drove and crashed into a bus that was parked on a road in Mirdiff, has been placed in provisional detention for seven days, a Dubai chief prosecutor has revealed.
Salah Bu Farroucha Al Felasi, Advocate-General and head of the Dubai Traffic Prosecution, said that they received a traffic accident report from Al Rashidiya police station involving a 20-year-old GCC national.
The motorist was driving his 4WD recklessly and dangerously and rammed his vehicle into a bus that was parked on the side of a road in Mirdiff.
Chief prosecutor Al Felasi said that he supervised and followed-up on the probe, which was handled by senior prosecutor Noura Al Raissi.
The traffic accident file had a video enclosed to it, which captured the motorist driving in a reckless way that risked his life and also caused danger and nuisance to other motorists as well as the neighbourhood residents. He was also to be blamed for his vehicle hitting a bus parked on roadside.
Chief prosecutor Al Felasi pointed out that the public prosecution ordered that the man be jailed for seven days pending the investigation.
The necessary technical reports about the car's modifications were also requested and the witnesses heard.
The Advocate-General stressed that following directives of Dubai Attorney-General Issam Eissa Al Humaidan, such behaviours that violate the traffic laws and regulations would not be taken leniently - and will invite strictest legal penalties.
