During the past two months, Sharjah Taxi delivered more than 4,000 orders placed by customers on the online platform of the Sharjah Cooperative Society, an official has said. 
Mohammed Al Buraimiexecutive director of Operations Sector, Sharjah Taxisaid the initiative was launched in line with the national efforts introduced to combat the spread of Covid-19. 
"These orders were delivered adhering to the highest standards of safety and precaution required to prevent the spread of the virus. Our team ensures that each order is individually sanitised and delivered to the customer," he added. 
Al Buraimi said that the delivery initiative was introduced in support of the #StayHome campaign. It also aimed to support Sharjah Cooperative Society for responsible delivery of its orders. 
Since the outbreak of the virus, the Sharjah Cooperative Society has witnessed a tremendous increase in online and phone orders. Once made, the orders are then packed and sterilised ready for delivery to the customer. "While handling deliveries, Sharjah Taxi ensured that each driver is trained to follow the necessary precautionary measures including wearing masks, gloves, sterilising parcels and cleaning the car as often as possible," he said. 
Al Buraimi said to ensure they remain motivated and continue to offer their services diligently, these drivers will be honoured at an annual private ceremony for all their efforts and contributions.
